Migrated to Australia in the late 1800s from Scotland.
Member of the inaugural SABFA committee in 1902.
Played for South Adelaide in the inaugural league in 1903.
Founded and played for Adelaide SC in 1904 and continued in the game as a referee.

Secretary of unofficial Bricknell & Co team and Corinthians team in 1906 to raise funds for local charities from exhibition football matches.
Played for ‘Scotland’ against ‘England’ in 1907 match.
Represented SA v WA in the 1910 interstate series.
Secretary of St Peter’s club in 1911.
Officiated as secretary of the Referees Association in the 1920s.
Known as the “Father of Soccer” in South Australia.
